The Iranian Federated Women’s Club, in partnership with County Supervisor, Dave Cortese, is proud to present Charshanbeh Suri, The Festival of Fire. Consistent with Persian tradition, we will celebrate Charshanbeh Suri on the last Tuesday night of winter. Join us on March 13, 2018 from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM for a very special night of live music, Persian cuisine, and a charshanbeh Suri Puppet show. Guests of this special event will even have the opportunity to participate in the old Charshanbeh Suri tradition of jumping over fire, signifying the end of the 1396th Persian year and the arrival of Spring and Nowruz 1397.
This event is open and Free to the public.

The Iranian Federated Women’s Club (IFWC)/Payvand with support from the City of Cupertino, is proud to present the Longest night (Winter Solstice) and the”Shab e Yalda” on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Cupertino Community Hall, from 5:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
The program features the Story of “Conference of the Birds” by 12th century’s Persian poet, and theoretician of Sufism, Farīd ud-Dīn Aṭṭār. This collection portrays today’s leadership challenges in the world.
Synopsis: “The Conference of the Birds” is a poem that describes the nature of the divine and its relationship with worldly existence. The poem uses the journey of a group of birds in search of their king led by an old guiding bird as a metaphor for a master leading his pupils toward enlightenment.
The Story will be presented in the form of magical story telling, Persian dances, music and artistic performances:

There will be nationally-acclaimed Persian musicians and artistic performers free to the public. This event, commonly referred to as “MEHREGAN ,” is a fall festival of Persian origin, which has been celebrated for more than 3,000 years. It marks the first day of Fall. The festival of Mehregan is celebrated by many groups of people in the Middle East, and Central and South Asia, but particularly by Persians or various Iranian peoples.

The Iranian Federated Women’s Club/Payvand in partnership with the City of San Jose District 10, Councilmember Johnny Khamis, has prepared a very special and intimate event for Friday, March 24, 2017, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the San Jose City Hall Rotunda, which is located at 200 E. Santa Clara Street in San Jose.
This event will feature exquisite Persian cuisine specially prepared by uncle Rays, Special Persian Pastries and Cake prepared by La Patisserie bakery, Haftseen Table Setting by Afsaneh Naderi, Artistic Flowers setting at the Art gallery by Lili Ghazian, Centerpieces by Rose Express Florist and Guests will be treated to view a special collection of Persian art gallery, as well live music and performances by Moein Viva, Faranak Shahroozi, Sabiba, and Haleh, MC, Nilou Nouri and many more local artists and groups. All of this will be to welcome and celebrate a bountiful and prosperous Persian New Year. This event, commonly referred to as “Yalda,” or “Shab-e Yalda,” or “Zayeshmehr,” or “Shab-e Chelleh” is the Persian Winter Solstice celebration, which has been celebrated for more than 3,000 years. Yalda is celebrated on the Northern Hemispheres longest night of the year, which is the eve of Winter Solstice. Depending on the shift of the calendar, Yalda is celebrated on or around December 20thor 21st each year. Yalda is the night of the birth of Mithra, a Persian angel of light and truth. Subject to seasonal drift, this day may sometimes fall on a day before or a day after the actual Winter Solstice. The festival of “YALDA” is celebrated by many groups of people in the Middle East, and Central and South Asia, but particularly by Persians or various Iranian peoples.

The Rotary Club of Cupertino, in partnership with the Iranian Federated Women’s Club (IFWC), will celebrate the arrival of fall with Mehregan, the Persian Fall Festival, on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Memorial Park, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event is free to the public with live Persian music, activities for the kids, Persian arts and cultural displays and food. Mehregan, an ancient festival of Persian origin, has been celebrated since 6th century BC to welcome the first day of fall.

Persian musician, Fared Shafinury will be appearing to help celebrate Mehregan. A critically acclaimed and award winning musician, Fared Shafinury studied under master musicians in Iran and incorporates the classical and folk sounds of Iran to the music of the world. Fared will be performing from 4:30 pm till 6:00 pm.
Visit the Persian Cultural booth to learn and enjoy and gain new insights into the Persian culture, arts, music and food. This year, the IFWC takes pride to announce that the wonderful Farrah Yassini, the fabulous Wedding and Event Designer of Sofreh aghd Sofreh Aghd Flowers Farzaneh will be designing the Persian Cultural Booth.
Baba Kabob (Persian food truck) will be at the festival from 11:00 am till 3:00 pm.
