The Persian New Year, commonly referred to as “Nowruz,” is a spring festival of Persian origin that has been celebrated for more than 3,000 years. It marks the first day of spring, and the festivities involved with the holiday reflect the renewal of the Earth that occurs with the coming of spring. Nowruz is celebrated by many groups of people in the Middle East and Central and South Asia, but particularly by Persians or various Iranian peoples.
